2009-10 Children and Young People Implementation Plan

Thank you for all your contributions to the annual Children and Young People Implementation Plan; the chart and an executive summary of the three year plan have been circulated to support you in keeping an eye on our agreed priorities.
The main themes we identified as being at the heart of our work resonate throughout the more detailed plans. These are raising aspirations., closing the gap, positive parenting and reducing risky behaviour. There are already some early successes. Our 16 year olds have done their best ever in their recent exams. Our looked after children have made positive strides in many aspects following tailored support for them. The new parenting courses underway in localities are having the best attendance and completion rates ever. More young people are achieving accreditations through a broader range of activities in our youth provision including voluntary sector partners. We’ll collect these and many other success stories to share on the website. Underpinning our success are some of the new ways we are developing plans and refreshing our thinking. Do have a look at the new guidance, jointly developed, on ‘turning the curve’ outcome focused planning.

Dr Jane Spouse,
Deputy Director
Department for Children and Young People
South Gloucestershire Council
